The Loran community would like to congratulate Claire Gummo (Applebanks Loran Scholar ‘13), the 19th Loran Scholar to earn a Rhodes scholarship.
Claire is completing a degree in political and gender studies at Queen’s University. She is originally from Calgary, where she attended Bishop Carroll High School.
She spent a summer at the Nobel Women’s Initiative, assisting with a campaign to end rape and gender violence, and has been contributing to the development of new sexual violence response and prevention education programs and policies on campus. Claire is also an undergraduate researcher at the Centre for International and Defence Policy and a volunteer with Kingston’s Sexual Health Resource Centre. This past summer, she worked with the polling and market research firm Abacus Data and as a consultant for NATO.
